I am KC: KC Concepcion's Newest Project on TV

THE MOST beautiful face on Philippine TV today makes a legion of her fans excited about her new show that will showcase her flexibility as an actress, the Drama Anthology, I am KC.

KC Concepcion will be playing various roles in dramas of different genre, which will put to test how well she can act.

Her first offering is a comedy with Ai-Ai delas Alas and Jake Cuenca, where she will appear as an overconfident gal with great dreams for herself and for her mother.

After the success of her Maalaala Mo Kaya episode, KC is expected to improve the ratings of ABS-CBN, which does her copious promotions.

KC is well-loved by Filipinos that many of us are always excited with updates about her. People also loved her because she is a daughter of no less than the Megastar, Sharon Cuneta.

What I like about KC, aside from her being beautiful is her being a well-rounded individual, whish makes her a good role model for the Filipino youth. She is the kind of actress that deserves all our respect.

I will surely be watching I am KC, which will start on March 29, 2008 on ABS-CBN.

Kapamilya vs Kapuso: The Battle of the Summer Station IDs

THE NETWORK war is not only in ratings about their respective programs like News and Drama Series. The battle of the Station IDs is also one, which Filipino look forward to. Something new always comes out whenever it's Christmas, Summer, or the Rainy Season. It seems like these seasons would not be complete without them.

What I like about this phenomenon is its being able to bring out the creativity in the people behind the networks' publicity. A few of the memorable ones include Sama Summer (ABS-CBN)Sama-sama Tayo Ngayong Pasko (ABS-CBN), Free (ABS-CBN), Sukob Na (ABS-CBN), and Kapuso, Makulay ang Buhay (GMA-7).

This summer of 2008, the battle continues. ABS-CBN's station ID is dubbed One Summer, One Team, a catchy hip-hop song, which is quite reminiscent of it's last year's station ID because of the drum beats and the chanting. It also features kaleidoscopic images that reminds me of an old Del Monte Pineapple joice commercial. Here's the vid:

GMA-7's is like a Wow, Philippines! infomercial, complete with tourist spots, Regine Velasquez's voice, and Fiesta sa Barrio atmosphere. Here it is:

In this battle, for me, ABS-CBN's summer station is better. It just shows how adept the people over ABS-CBN in creating such wonderful stuff on TV. Although there are some similarities between the two, ABS-CBN's creates a unique experience. It's a lot catchier and there's so much to see--bodies and all. Lol. One Team, One Summer, One Team, One Summer, Team Kapamilya Tayo...yeah, yeah, yeah...!

Have a great summer!

Papaya Fever Hits America

NO LESS than Good Morning, America!, a top-rating show in the US imitated the comical choreography made by our very own Edu Manzano to the tune of a 70's dance hit that Vins Santiago of "The Rhythm In Blue Band" from the Philippines gave his own rendition.

Imagine, from Game KNB? (on ABS-CBN) to Good Morning, America! People in many parts of the world including the US and China think that this is as phenomenal as the Macarena of the 90's.

Here's a video of the hosts of Good Morning, America! doing the Papaya Dance from FalseVoice, the one who paved the way for Charesse Pempengco to reach the American shores some months ago:

Hana Kimi to be shown on ABS-CBN and GMA-7

THE NETWORK war is on getting fiercer again. Proof? They are showing the same (same title, at least) TV series on March 24--the Taiwanese adaptation on ABS-CBN and the Japanese on GMA-7.

I did a little research and found out that the story of these TV dramas are based on the manga series, Hanazakari no Kimitachi e or For You in Full Blossom. The plot is about a girl who enrolls in a school for boys just to get near her idol. A twist of events eventually revealed her identity to the school doctor.

Many could associate this to the Koreanovela Coffee Prince on GMA-7. In fact, some ABS-CBN fanatics think that it is the network's answer to Coffee Prince, which had just ended.

The million-dollar question is, which version is better, the Taiwanese of the Japanese version?

A scene from the Taiwanese version (Wikipedia.com)

Mukamo.com says that the Japanese version could be better because it's funny, but it also says that the Taiwanese version could also be attractive to fans because the male lead actor is better looking than his Jap counterpart. Another thing pointed out in the said post is that ABS-CBN can dub it better.

There would be more room for comparison because they will not be shown on the same time slot. ABS-CBN puts Hana Kimi in its strengthened HaponTastic, while GMA-7 puts it on the timeslot before the evening news, 24 Oras, and against the game show Wheel of Fortune.

Contrary to Mukamo.com's claim, it is not the first time on Philippine TV. Few years ago, both ABS-CBN and GMA-7 showed Betty La Fea. When Betty La Fea on GMA-7 was about to conclude, ABS-CBN started airing the second season of the same series spoiling the much awaited ending of the first season.

This is the Philippines!

Divalicious in Gensan Pics

IT HAPPENS very seldom down here in GenSan that big stars like Pops Fernandez hold a concert.

During the Kalilangan Festival here in General Santos City, Pops proved that she deserves to be called the Concert Queen. Joined by Jay-R, Danilo Barrios, Jimmy Marquez, and Geneva Cruz, she unleashed her Divalicious performance to the gaping SoCSKSarGen fans.

Here are some pics from Sir Avel and Myk:

I hope in the future, more and more stars will visit GenSan and other cities in Southern Mindanao to give entertainment to locals and at the same time prove that it's peaceful down here! :D

MariMar Ends Tonight

THE MOST talked about and, probably, the most watched drama series on Philippine TV, MariMar, an adaptation of the Mexicanovela that was a hit in many parts of the world more than a decade ago, will be airing its final episode tonight.

Yes, tonight, not last week. Reportedly, the show was extended for another week because the guests of the grand wedding of Sergio Santibañez (Dingdong Dantes) and MariMar (Marian Rivera) would not be available. These guests, according to sources, are Sen. Jinggoy Estrada and former First Lady Imelda Marcos. Can you imagine how grand the ending of the show would be?

Personally, I have not followed the Teleserye but I am aware of its popularity. I'm sure, everyone is excited about it. In fact, in the internet where I am typing this post right now, almost everyone's glued to the TV set to witness the said grand ending.

All throughout its airing, MariMar of GMA-7 Kapuso Network has dominated the ratings game.

Here is a video and the lyrics of the MariMar OST performed by Regine Velasquez:

MariMar
Regine Velasquez

Marimar (aww!)Marimar (aww!)
Marimar
Ako po si MariMar
Lumaki sa tabing dagat
Sa lolo’t lola namulat
Di nagkulang sa pangaral
Busog sa pagmamahal
Marimar! (aww!)

Ako si marimar
Simple man at mahirap
Meron ding mga pangarap
Hangad sa pagdarasal
Tunay na pagmamahal

Marimar, marimar
Pag tumibok ang puso
Pag-ibig ay asahan mo

Marimar, marimar
Pag tumibok ang puso
Dakilang pag-suyo!

Marimar (Aww!)

Do You Know Who Ken Lee Is?

IF NOT for this Bulgarian girl who auditioned for the Music Idol, I would not have learned this. Ken Lee is a character in the Maria Carey hit, Without You.

Ramiele Malubay is Now on American Idol's Top 12!

BRAVO TO the Filipina, Ramiele Malubay, who continues to wave the Filipino banner so high in the American Idol as she makes it to the Top 12.

Although, her performance has weakened compared to her previous performance according to the jurors, Jackson, Abdul, and Cowell, American Idol voters still chose Ramiele to be in the Top 12.
