I FOUND a video of Charice on YouTube when she guested on ABS-CBN's Christmas Special in 2008. In the show, she sang "Oh, Holy Night" in a version I have never heard before. She sang it distinctively.

IT'S BEEN quite long since I last wrote for this blog. I had been busy with my day job and my other blogs. Well, anyway, I'm back in the groove. And since it is Christmas I have some gifts for you. First up are Christmas songs that Charice sang in two separate occasions.

First is Grown Up Christmas List, which she sang at The Grove in Los Angeles, California. One of the guests include California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

CHARICE SHOULD have solo concert tour soon.

After the overwhelming success of the David Foster and Friends concert tour in Tokyo, Manila, Bangkok, and Jakarta, where Charice was a major crowd drawer and earned spontaneous standing ovations, the Little Princess with the big voice should have a solo concert tour soon to satiate the cravings of her ever growing fan base in different countries.

Several international publications have named Charice in their recent articles as the Asian Pop Artist of Concerts.



Charice was also awarded a Gold Record award in Japan for selling more than 100, 00 copies of her album there.

Despite the super typhoon that hit the Philippines, the David Foster and Friends concert was still a sold-out concert and Charice was able to entertain her very own people, who gladly gave her a standing ovation for her performances.

In Bangkok, Thailand, Charice continued to amaze a crowd of about 12 thousand people.




After the concert tour, Charice is back in the US to continue taping for her next episodes in Glee. Charice fans are surely awaiting for the return of Sunshine Corazon in Glee.

FROM BOXERS, singers, actors, and dancers, GenSan never runs out of talented individuals. The newest addition to GenSan's list of winners is Andrew Stephen Tirado Diño a.k.a. Helios, who has just won his 3rd Defending Champion title tonight on TV5's Talentadong Pinoy.



Helios won last October 10. That was followed yesterday, October 16, and tonight, October 17.

Helios or Andrew Diño, according to The Art Baboon,:

majored in Folk Dancing at the Philippine High School for the Arts, the only art school in the Philippines that havens young artists.

He is also the first and only Filipino contender to compete in the ...World Fireknife Dance Championship held in Hawaii, May of 2007.

He also represented the Philippines in the World Fireknife Dance Championships in California in 2008.

In his Facebook Fan Page, he is connected with Hong Kong Disneyland where he performs in a play and placed General Santos City as his location.

Andrew need five more wins to advance to the Hall of Fame of Talentadong Pinoy.

RIGHT IN time for the upcoming fight between Manny Pacquiao and Antonio Margarito on November 13 (November 14 in the Philippines) the Filipino-Irish band called Rag Rag recently released a new theme entitled Fighting Pride.

EVERYONE'S TALKING about her. My Plurk timeline is filled with updates from people who have just watched the premiere episode of Glee Season 2. Sunshine Corazon and Charice are trending on Twitter. Youtube videos about her performance on the show abound.



Why not? Aside from the botox issue, there are plenty of reason why Glee is making more buzz. There are new members added to the cast, new conflicts, and new competitions.

On Glee Season 2 premiere episode entitled "Audition" Sunshine Corazon is introduced as a foreign student at McKinley High.

New Directions is looking for additional members as part of Will Schuester's (Matthew Morisson) effort in saving the glee club after the principal has announced a 10% budget cut. In her fear of being robbed of the limelight, Rachel gave Sunshine the wrong instructions for the New Directions Audition. Rachel apologized later and welcomed Sunshine to the real audition, where she beautifully sang Beyonce's Listen.

Rachel learned that, with the help of Sue (Jane Lynch), Sunshine has been recruited by Vocal Adrenaline, the winning team in the Regionals. She realized that instead of helping save New Directions, Sunshine has gone to make the other camp stronger. Rachel then realized that she loved herself more than she loved the glee club and apologized for it.

By the looks of it, Sunshine makes Glee shine brighter. Congratulations, Charice!

CHARICE PERFORMED for a fund-raising party in Los Angeles, California for the benefit of MusiCare Nashville Flood Relief Fund, July 31.

Charice sang cuts from her debut album, including Pyramid, In This Song, and Reset. Reset has Tagalog rap, which made the Filipino fans in the audience very proud.

I have a little trivia: American fans were once offended when Charice paid special attention to her Filipino fans during her performance. They so love Charice that they got jealous of Pinoy fans, but later on, they have accepted it. It is natural for Filipinos to be warm to each other when abroad.

Congratulations to Charice for a great performance on the Grammy Block Party.

CHARICE ranked as the week's number in album sales in Japan according to Oricon Style's weekly chart for foreign albums.

Next to Charice follows Super Junior's Fourth Album.

SOUTH COTABATO's Me'dal Kolon Datal Dance and Theater Ensemble won the coveted Best Performance Award in the 5th Sabah International Folklore Festival 2010  at the Sabah Cultural Centre in Malaysia, July 24, 2010.


Me'dal Kolon Datal showcased the rich cultural heritage of South Cotabato in dances choreographed by Marella Ferrer and Vivien Marie Ferrer and with Butch Ferrer as artistic director.

Despite the lack of support from the government, the dance group was still determined to join the festival and decided to spend their own money for their travel to Malaysia.

Their sacrifice paid off when their performance bested those of other participating groups from Taiwan, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Kazakhstan,  Uzbekistan, Latvia, India, China, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia.

Congratulations to Me'dal Kolon Datal Dance and Theater Ensemble for another world-class feat that Filipinos can be proud of.

CHARICE PEMPENGCO is big in Thailand.

As part of her Asian Tour, Charice visited her Thai fans last week (July 22-23, 2010) for the Dreams Come True Showcase at Siam Discovery Shopping Mall in Bangkok and performed for over 6,000 screaming fans.




Charice has a big following in Thailand so, they just deserve to hear Charice sing live. And Charice did not disappoint them. She has proven herself as The Voice. Here is a video of one of her performances in Thailand.

CHARICE WENT back to Korea and performed on Star King again. If you remember, it was her video on Star King that caught the attention of Oprah and Ellen DeGeneres and the rest is history.



On Star King, Charice performed Whitney Houston hits, for which she has been known worldwide. She also had a duet with with popular Korean artist So Hyang, singing When You Believe and with Luna, which earned rave comments on YouTube and several blogs.

In the video below, she sang One Moment in Time after the Korean artist Luna. Luna cried after Charice's performance. I don't understand Korean but when Charice spoke to comfort her, I knew someone should have said that Luna is not a good singer.

I think, it was a good gesture for Charice to say it, even she did not understand what the Koreans were saying. Here's the video:

GENSAN ONCE again rejoiced in yet another victory as wildcard entry XB GenSan seized the championship in Showtime The Finals, yesterday with their signature power-packed performance at the Ynares Center, Antipolo City.

If Mindanao was rocked by a series of earthquakes, yesterday, Philippine TV was rocked by XB GenSan's highly energetic performance.



XB GenSan's energy level was just so overwhelming when they performed and they send shivers down my spine. They connect to the audience in such an extraordinary way.

With an average score of 9.875, XB GenSan brought home one million pesos and the pride of being Showtime's First Grand Champion.

CHARICE IS very busy these days. She just had her Asian Tour where she promoted her album to key cities in Southeast Asian countries like Japan, Korea, Thailand and Malaysia. She also performed in a private party in Macau. Next week, she will start shooting her first episode in the second season of the hit musical TV series Glee!



On Glee, Charice will be playing the role of an exchange students who would give lead character Rachel Berry (played by Lea Michelle) a run for her money.

On Ricky Lo's column on the Philippine Star, she said:

“Sa July 29 na ‘yon. ["That'll be on July 29."] I haven’t gotten the script yet but I have started taking voice lessons. I was told that I would shoot for nine days for my initial episode.”

Also in the column, Ricky Lo mentioned that Usher, who was in Manila for a concert, seemed to not know who Charice is. Well, once Charice appears on Glee, he might be able to know who Charice is.

WHILE CREEPING Crew failed to enter the Showtime Grand Finals, another group from GenSan has made it to the Grand Finals with their angsty and energy-packed performance today, July 23, 2010.

THERE'S SOME hullabaloo on the worldwide web today following reports on Charice's going through Botox Treatment in preparation for her role on the hit musical TV series Glee.

Cosmetic surgeon of Philippine celebrities, Dr. Vicki Belo, reportedly did the botox procedure, which sources say was to make her face narrower.

On 24-Oras' Chika Minute on GMA-7, Charice told the press that it is one of their biggest preparation for Glee. She said that she wanted to look fresh on Glee.

Meanwhile, fans and detractors alike were surprised; they couldn't seem to figure out why in the world Charice would need to get Botox treament. They say that it is not a good example for young women. 

Charice's camp defended her, saying that it was done to relieve a jaw problem that is similar to TMJ and not to make her look younger nor to make her "naturally round" face look narrower.

ASIDE FROM Charice, another Filipina is wowing American audience in the person of Lani Misalucha.

Lani has been doing this for years in Las Vegas and she was, in fact, ascribed the title Siren of the Strip.


When her show, Voices, at the Hilton in Las Vegas ended in June, her fans at the strip wondered if it was canceled. Her manager, who is also his husband told Funfare that they did not renew the contract with Giordano because the latter failed to meet the demands they agreed upon in the contract.

According to reports, Lani will be moving to a bigger venue and will be putting up a high-tech show.

She also spoke about how we Filipinos are passionate about music that we just can't live without it.

Before the interview ends, she was asked for her thoughts on artists rising to fame with their songs digitally enhanced with computer software like Auto-Tune. She said that it's really part of the music industry and admitted the tech men behind her album must have used the same.

Well, we know very well how good Charice is as a singer and that she rose to fame because of her sheer talent and not with artificial effects or gimmicks.

AFTER A roster of winners in previous talent and reality shows on national TV, GenSan has yet another pride, Creeping Crew, which has captured the Hurados' admiration on Showtime, a top-rating morning talent search on ABS-CBN.



Creeping Crew won Week 36 on Showtime last Saturday, July 10. Hopefully they will win in the monthly finals so they would qualify in the Showtime Grand finals on July 24, 2010.

LAST NIGHT, July 12, 2010, ABS-CBN aired the first episode of Noah, a new fantaserye starring Zaijan Jaranilla a.k.a Santino of the May Bukas Pa fame, and one the Philippines' premier actors, Piolo Pascual.



In Noah, Piolo Pascual plays a cop, who, in a twist of fate, lost his son, Jacob (Zaijan Jaranilla). Jacob then grew up in an island called Noah, inhabited by a tribe of people who take care of him and named him, Eli.

You might expect Noah to be a story of a father's search for his beloved son but for sure, there would more to it than that. Noah will probably be filled with episodes with plenty of lessons to learn about life, love, friendship, and human nature.

Noah is part of ABS-CBN's celebration of the 60 Years of Teleserye.

JOVIT BALDIVINO sings duet with Journey vocalist Arnel Pineda on ASAP XV, yesterday, July 27. The two world-class Pinoy artists sang Faithfully by Journey.

The two singers have been compared since Jovit's audition on Pinoy Got Talent, where he sang Faithfully, was aired. Their fans all waited for their performance on ASAP XV. And finally, it happened yesterday.

Although a lot of people think they sing alike, their performance in last Sunday's episode of ASAP showed that the two are unique. Jovit's voice is thicker and huskier while Arnel's is thinner and smoother. In the video below, you could see how Arnel gave his best and how amazed Jovit was.

CHARICE has finally confirmed it in Twitter that she's getting a role in the second season of the hit musical TV series, Glee. It has also been confirmed on Entertainment Tonight.







According to the news, she is going to take the role of an exchange student whose vocal prowess will threaten Glee's lead role, Rachel Berry.

I have seen all the episodes of Glee and I could see that Charice would easily fit in. The TV series Glee already has talented Asians and Blacks on the show. With Charice on Glee, the show will have more and more followers as Charice herself has amazed a large group of people with her performances.

Charice denied the rumors at first but later on, she confirmed it herself.

Good luck, Charice! I know, you'll make it big on Glee! I'm sure, you will be another interesting character in the series. We will all be waiting what Charice can do on Glee.

THE FIRST Pinoy Got Talent (PGT) Grand Winner has been announced. With a very wide margin from the next competitor, sixteen-year-old Jovit Baldevino was voted last night to be the very first Pinoy Got Talent grand winner.



For two nights in a row, the Araneta Coliseum was filled with avid supporters of the 12 grand finalists. But the audience roared the loudest when Jovit Baldevino performed Too Much Love will Kill You by Queen.

His first video on YouTube, where he sang Faithfully by Journey as an audition piece for PGT earned over a million viewers all over the world. His performance of Carrie by Europe was also watched by so many people.

From his humble beginnings selling siomai in Batangas, Jovit Baldevino has risen to fame. Winning 2-million pesos and the hearts of Filipinos, Jovit is certainly bound for success. Congratulations to Jovit Baldevino for being the first Pinoy Got Talent (PGT) grand winner.

LEE DEWYZE is the new Americal Idol. Everybody knows it.I'm so glad GMA-7 aired it live. I only see American Idol episodes on the internet. Watching it live via satellite is different.

Lee won over Crystal by a margin of only 2% of the votes, filling the finale with so much excitement. The performances of Alice Cooper, The Bee Gees, Michael McDonald, Christina Aguilera, Hall and Oats, Alanis Morisette, Carrie Underwood, Bret Michaels, Chicago, Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Fantasia Barrino, Jordin Sparks, Taylor Hicks, Kris Allen, Joe Cocker and Janet Jackson also spiced up the finale.

AI has also bid farewell to its wittiest and most straight-forward judge, Simon Cowell.

Sarangani Bay Festival is happening on May 27-29, 2010 with major activities taking place at the white sand beaches in Gumasa, Glan and Lemlunay Diving Spot in Tinoto, Maasim.
