THE SPELL of the sympathy vote is broken on Philippine reality TV shows as the unpopular Laarni Losala (now, Lozada) wins against Bugoy Bugayon (now, Drilon) and his touching farm-boy-with-a-big-dream story. Since the start of the reality shows in the Philippines, it's usually the underdog that wins and the kontrabida loses. Remember Hero Angeles (Star Circle Quest) and his champorado for Christmas? How about Nene Tamayo (PBB 1) and Ejay Falcon (PBB Teen Edition 2)? It is not sympathy vote that made Laarni win. It's the appreciation of an outstanding talent.
