Sofronio Vasquez aka 'The Filipino Phenom' enters The Voice Top 5

There’s a new king in town, and he’s proudly waving the Filipino flag! Sofronio Vasquez, dubbed the Filipino Phenom, has officially sealed his place in The Voice Top 5 with a performance so good it left the judges, viewers, and possibly even the King himself swooning. His rendition of If I Can Dream didn’t just hit the notes; it hit us right in the feels.

But Vasquez didn’t stop there. Teaming up with none other than Sting himself (yes, the Sting), he performed Every Breath You Take in a duet that felt more like a masterclass in vocal charisma. And let’s not forget the quiet strength of his coach, Michael Bublé, whose pep talk after the performance had Sofronio holding back tears. “You took the brass ring,” Bublé said, showing just how invested he is in his team.

Yet, even amid these stellar moments, viewers were shouting louder than the background music (literally). Social media erupted with complaints about the sound mixing, with fans on X and Reddit blasting the show for burying the singers under a tsunami of instrumentals. “Why tf this ‘background’ music so loud? I can’t even hear the singers,” one viewer quipped. Despite the technical mishaps, Sofronio’s voice still managed to cut through the noise—testament to his undeniable talent.

So, what makes Vasquez so magnetic? It’s his ability to transform vulnerability into power. He’s not just singing; he’s telling a story, channeling his journey as a Filipino artist carving his space in the U.S. music scene. And with Bublé’s unwavering support—checking in pre-show with heartfelt “Are you okay?” messages—Sofronio seems to have found a mentor who’s not just a coach but a genuine ally.

Now, the million-dollar question: Can anyone beat Sofronio? Maybe Shye, his equally talented Team Bublé teammate. But let’s be real, the road to victory looks like it’s paved with Filipino grit and Elvis-worthy dreams.

The Voice finale is coming up, and whether Sofronio takes the crown or not, one thing’s for sure: he’s already won the hearts of fans worldwide. So, grab your popcorn, turn down the “too loud” background music, and get ready for the showstopper we’ve all been waiting for. Will the Filipino Phenom reign supreme? Stay tuned!

Lyrics and Video of the Dyosa Theme Song: Himig ng Pag-ibig by Yeng Constantino

THE PRODUCTION design of ABS-CBN's newest fantaserye , DYOSA starring Anne Curtis is enticing. The musical score, theme song, and post-production are great. Kids at home really watch out for every episode of it. But what got my attention is the theme song, Himig ng Pag-ibig. originally sung by ASIN , and given a different interpretation by Yeng Constantino for the primetime series. So here is the video and lyrics of DYOSA's theme song: Himig ng Pag-ibig by Yeng Constantino Hoo hoo-hoo hoo-hoo Hoh hoh-hoo hoo-hoo Sa pagsapit ng dilim ako'y naghihintay pa rin Sa iyong maagang pagdating Pagkat ako'y nababalisa kung 'di ka kapiling Bawat sandali mahalaga sa atin.

Bea Alonzo is Betty La Fea

THE GORGEOUS Bea Alonzo transforms into an ugly but intelligent woman working in a fashion design comapany, Eco Moda, for yet another Pinoy remake of an international drama series, i ♥ Betty la fea (pronounced I Love Betty La Fea) on ABS-CBN. The new drama series is based on the Colombian drama series, Yo Soy Betty La Fea (I am Betty the Ugly), which was also franchised in the US with the TV drama Ugly Betty . What's good about this Pinoy version is that Bea really looks like Betty of the original drama series, which was shown here few years ago. I'm really wathcing out for this show. i ♥ Betty la fea is top-billed by big names in the Philippine showbiz industry. Here's the list of the show's cast from wikipedia: Bea Alonzo as Beatriz Pengson / Betty Piolo Pascual John Lloyd Cruz as Armando Solis Ruffa Gutierrez as Daniela Valencia [1] Vhong Navarro as Nicolas Mora [2] Ai Ai delas Alas as Julia Pengson Sam Concepcion as Andrew Pengson Ronaldo Valdez as Hermes...

Hana Kimi to be shown on ABS-CBN and GMA-7

THE NETWORK war is on getting fiercer again. Proof? They are showing the same (same title, at least) TV series on March 24--the Taiwanese adaptation on ABS-CBN and the Japanese on GMA-7. I did a little research and found out that the story of these TV dramas are based on the manga series, Hanazakari no Kimitachi e or For You in Full Blossom. The plot is about a girl who enrolls in a school for boys just to get near her idol. A twist of events eventually revealed her identity to the school doctor. Many could associate this to the Koreanovela Coffee Prince on GMA-7. In fact, some ABS-CBN fanatics think that it is the network's answer to Coffee Prince , which had just ended. The million-dollar question is, which version is better, the Taiwanese of the Japanese version? A scene from the Taiwanese version (Wikipedia.com) Mukamo.com says that the Japanese version could be better because it's funny, but it also says that the Taiwanese version could also be attractive to fans beca...
